4 Areas of Youth Education that Needs Improvement

In some areas, education has taken great strides in recent dates. With greater attention on IT, Physical Education and basic grammar, one can be forgiven for thinking things are ok. However, as you approach adulthood, you’ll realise there are gaping holes in the education system where society can improve. That’s the focus of this article, to pinpoint four areas where education needs more work.

Gambling

In the UK, an individual only needs to turn 18 to be legally allowed to gamble. Unfortunately, the education system hasn’t fully prepared young adults in the pitfalls of gambling. Many young adults turn to gambling as a quick win, in the hope of winning a jackpot prize. This is bad news, if a young man or woman wins at their first attempt, they may ignorantly think they can win all the time. On the other hand, if they lose, they may chase losses.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with the occasional gamble if you’re using a GGpoker bonus code and risking little, but the problem is that schools haven’t fully prepared youth for gambling and are therefore at greater risk of addiction.

Personal Finance

It’s staggering the number of people that live paycheck to paycheck, overly reliant on their next payslip. Sadly, personal finances are not taught much at school or college. Therefore, it’s not surprise to learn that people frequently use credit cards and take out big loans to pay for luxury items like new cars. It might take years to learn that these are foolish activities and one needs to be prudent and save regularly, ensuring they have an emergency fund and no bad debts to pay.

Mental Health

There’s no denying that society has developed a greater understanding of mental health. Many adults and workspaces are now familiar with the different issues and how to behave accordingly. But there’s always more we can do and there appears to be a lack of speed and action from education to improve knowledge. There is reason to be optimistic though as mental health has become a talking point in the media with increased regularity.

Religion

To make room for other forms of study, schools always have to move out another subject. Sadly, religion has taken a backseat in many schools. Whilst there is clearly an anti-religion sentiment across many countries in Europe, to do away with the topic would be short-sighted.

Religion has played a fundamental part in how society has developed and continues to play a key part in billions of people’s lives. That’s why its important youth get a solid grounding in the major religions. By understanding people’s faiths people will be able to have greater empathy and common ground for discussions. Education in this area could potentially stop future conflicts so the stakes are great indeed.

There you have it, four areas where youths could be educated better in the future. Let’s hope we see change in the coming years so future generations are able to make informed decisions that help the world.
