National LGBTQI Young Adult Tobacco Needs Assessment Partner Organizations Logistics - Recorded Webinar NYAC Produced
 

If your organization is directly serving young adults between the ages 18-24, you might be qualified to become part of the nationwide LGBTQI Young Adult Tobacco Needs Assessment. The first step in preparing your organization to be part of the Needs Assessment is attending this webinar that will include all the details and logistics required in becoming one of NYAC’s partners in this initiative. If you plan to distribute the needs assessment to the young adults you serve, at least one person from your organization must take this tutorial about the survey tool and submit the evaluation/registration form provided during the webinar to receive the stipends given to the first 50 organizations to sign up with NYAC.

This webinar will explore the theory behind social networks strategy (SNS). Social networks strategy encourages youth to promote HIV testing or other programmatic goals by working within their own social network. The premise is that the youth we try to reach socialize and engage in risky behavior with peers within their "network." By training youth leaders to deliver key messages within their social network, providers increase the likelihood of reaching other youth at risk. Talking Circle - LGBTQ Latino Youth & HIV - Recorded Webinar NYAC Produced
 

With a cooperative agreement with the CDC, NYAC will be creating an HIV prevention social marketing campaign geared towards Latino LGBTQ youth across the country. In order to design a culturally competent and effective program, NYAC will be guided by a series of focus groups and talking circles with youth, youth-service providers, and HIV prevention specialists within the Latino LGBTQ communities.  Join NYAC to evaluate imagery, messaging, and social marketing techniques that are most appropriate for this community. This webinar will be highly interactive and will provide an opportunity to network and share ideas with other Latino LGBTQ HIV prevention specialists across the nation.

You Know Different Facebook/MySpace Pilot - Recorded Webinar NYAC Produced
 

“You Know Different” is NYAC’s award-winning HIV testing social marketing campaign. For the last five years, organizations across the nation have utilized “You Know Different” to increase the number of LGBTQ youth testing for HIV at their organizations. NYAC is now launching an online version of “You Know Different” called yKNOWd on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Learn how online outreach strategies can enhance HIV prevention services.The Facilitator will introduce the new section "yKNOWd," and provide a step-by-step walk through instructional of how to use the photo manipulator and twitter generator.

More than 25% of people who are infected with HIV are unaware of their status; youth (ages 13-24) continue to be disproportionately effected by HIV/AIDS and hesitate to seek HIV/AIDS services. This webinar helps HIV counselors and testers assess their skills in counseling youth and provide concrete ways to enhance their counseling skills and offer ways to ensure that barriers to testing experienced by youth are minimized in their testing sessions. In addition, we present strategies designed to mobilize youth for testing services.
