HIV Prevention for Youth 2.0

HIV continues to disproportionately affect LGBTQ youth, especially among communities of color. But are your prevention efforts meeting the needs of young people and taking advantage of the many ways that youth communicate, socialize and network? This institute will explore savvy technological strategies to enhance HIV prevention efforts among youth, ages 13-24. From social networking websites to text messages, this interactive institute will look at best practices for reaching youth with the tools they already use on a daily basis. Stepping Out of the Closet, Into the Light - A Report on GLBT Student Truancy and Dropping Out
The National Education Association, NEA, developed this report on "the status of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in education: stepping out of the closet, into the light." As stated by Tyler Miller

[the report] highlights [LGBT student's] struggle as well as that of GLBT school employees and offers concrete steps schools can take to improve their educational experience. It is NEA's first publication that combines research on GLBT issues and outlines program work by the Association to better the lives of students and its members.
